Resumo: The Present Research Seeks To Present The Polyvalent Universe Of Hammocks, An Artefact That During The First Centuries Of Portuguese America Was An Essential Element Of The Settlers' Daily Life, Using Their Literary And Visual Representations Produced By Travel Literature And Scientific Expeditions. We Will Focus Our First Chapter On Its Character Of Mobility, So Appreciated On The Way To The Interior Of The Continent, Observing It As An Equipment At Rest Areas While Traveling Through Images Made By Traveling Artists In The Nineteenth Century, Especially By Hercules Florence During The Langsdorff Expedition.
