Resumo: OBJECTIVE: To create and validate educational videos about vesical catheterization technique. METHODS: methodological study divided into two phases. The first phase was the development and validation of an educational video script about vesical catheterization. In this phase, the video script was written by the authors then was reconfigured and validated by eight specialist nurses based on the Delphi technique. The script was comprised of eight topics (concept, indication, patient education, materials, men?s vesical catheterization, women?s vesical catheterization, post vesical catheterization care, and complications). In the second phase, the video was filmed and edited, with an audiovisual technician support and the validation of the video was made by undergraduate Nursing students. In this phase, students answered a Likert five-point questionnaire after watching the video, scoring from 1 (did not understand anything) to 5 (understood almost everything and I have no doubt) for each of the eight topics. To be considered as valid and understandable , the video should get an average of over 4. RESULTS: it took five rounds of experts evaluation to define the video script . The educational video was recorded and edited with an audio visual technician help, and later, watched by 71 undergraduate Nursing students in the first year. Ninety-three percent of these students gave note 4 (understood almost everything) and the average was over 4 to all items of the video. CONCLUSION: educational video script was validated by specialist nurses and long term vesical catheterization educational video has been validated by undergraduate students.
