Resumo: Introduction: Sexuality is an issue, permeated by myths, prejudice in the family and social context. The school represents the space for discussions and exchange of knowledge. It acts as both a potential health education and health promoter. Objective: This study aimed to know the perception of the body and sexuality according to middle school students and teachers. Method: We carried out a cross-sectional study with a descriptive design and correlation between variables. The study included 22 public high schools. Teenagers and teachers answered an online questionnaire. In order to analyze data, we used descriptive statistics, analysis of variance test, and Tukey post-hoc multiple comparison tests. We considered p <0.05 as significant. Results: Of the 439 students, 50.34% are females. Most of them are white and enrolled in the third grade. They reported they were satisfied with their body. The older you are, the more satisfied you will be with the appearance of your vulva and/or your penis. Male teenagers touch more their genitals. Teenagers which touch their genital for pleasure are enrolled in the second and third grades. They belong to social grade level B1. Those who do not touch their genital are Evangelical and Catholic and belong to social grade levels C, D, and E. Masturbation is a way of relieving tension according to teenagers enrolled in the third grade. They seek information primarily on the Internet. Most do not feel comfortable speaking freely with their teachers. The first sexual intercourse occurred between 14 and 16 years of age. Teenagers over the age of 15.96 years intend to remain virgin until she gets married. They know about birth control pills, male condoms and morning-after pills. Teachers are mostly catholic married women and over the age of 40. Biology teachers say they are better prepared to teach sexuality topics. Teachers agree with the school's role in teaching sexuality. They feel prepared to address the issue, but do not do it so often. Conclusion: We urge parents and educators to seek evidence-based knowledge to act enlightening, contributing to an integral education in sexuality that enables the practice of autonomy, freedom of respect and equality to empower and empower our young people to fight for right of sexuality for sexual and reproductive rights. We understand that citizenship also occurs through knowledge and mastery of one's own body.
