Resumo: | The central focus of this research is to study the genre Cover Story (CS) of Revista Nova Escola (RNE) in its digital version. The research aims to analyze the texts that compose the MCs and their social and communicative purposes from the perspective of genre and register theory according to studies by Eggins (2002) and Martin and Rose (2008) and for the study of the Genre Structure Potential (GSP), Hasan(1989) and Eggins (2002) among other studies in Portuguese (MOTTA-ROTH; HEBERLE, 2005; VIAN JR., 2009b). which are based on the Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) theoretical approach by M.A.K. Halliday (1989) for whom language has a sociossemiotic function and, therefore, linked to its real context of use. In addition, our theoretical framework integrates the studies of genres in the journalistic context (MELO, 1992; 1994; 2003; BONINI, 2003), since our interest is to analyze CSs in RNE. The research corpus is composed of six CSs published in the magazine’s website in the second half of 2017 and for the study of the relations of this approach with the SFL, we consider the discussions by Vian Jr. (2014). The results of the research show that, in the genre plan, the GSPs of the CSs present schematic structures whose obligatory, optional and recursive stages occur regularly in the six texts of the corpus, although they present differentiations as to their frequencies and functions in the texts. We also perceived in the textual structure of the CSs that the obligatory stages present constituent parts of the reporting genres. We also note the presence of other genres classified by Bonini (2003) in their inventory as central genres imprisoned as the headline, autonomous central free genres in which we identify the report and central free genres conjugated to the profile, the photograph and the bibliographical reference. The latter integrates the optional and recursive stage, the photographs appear linked to the obligatory and recursive stages and the profile is present in the recursive stages in T4. In addition, we identify that visual resources have the main function of establishing intertextual and rhetorical relations with verbal texts, their stages and the image that works as a cover in the digital version of RNE. The CS is a genre constituted from others and serves the sociocommunicative objectives of the RNE, which, being an education magazine, stands as a media that assumes the functions of reporting, informing and discussing various issues of interest to the school agents, such as teachers, students, parents among others. |
