Resumo: The present dissertation results from research based on the work of Humberto Maturana, creator of the Biology of love and the Biology of knowledge. These propositions, as reflection spaces, are also denominated by this author as: biological and cultural matrix of the human existence. The paper is divided in three chapters. On the first chapter we seek to present the contexts where the research has came up. To do that we cleared up and reflected over some passages of the life history of the master s degree student; we brought information about the Maturana s human figure; we discussed a little on the inquietudes of researchers in social science and education in general, concerning the possibilities to overcome the traditional occidental thought; and, we bring some concerns of researchers in teacher s formation and environmental education. In the second chapter we present the central reflections proposed by Maturana while studying the origins of the human; our operating in the language in coordination of consensual coordination of actions; the emotions as configurations that flow in the dynamics of our nervous system and organism; the love as basic emotion that build the human, the love as basis of the social phenomenon; the rational as a phenomenon that bases itself on the emotional and in the language; the cultures as conversation nets; we, humans, as observers in the language; and ontological and epistemological turn over that may enable an another to do and to think. And, in the third chapter, starting with the central reflection basis in the Biology of love and in the Biology of knowledge, we seek to bring some discussions that might contribute to the formation of teachers and to the environmental education. To do this, starting with these central propositions, we discuss about this different way of formulation concepts; discuss some reflection basis; present some concepts; suggest some reflection spaces pertinent to teacher s formation and to environmental education. With this text, we intend to enable an overall understanding concerning this perspective offered by Maturana and some ways to reflect based on it about the actions of the teachers while living and understanding these particular situations of the education. We believe that this understanding, effectively, happen in measure of our disposal in seeing the origin of the knowledge from our operating as human beings, and, in doing so, to take in consideration our biological possibilities, looking at those in the way we tried to bring them up to the reflections suggested here.
