Resumo: This research questions how domestic workers and their work rights are represented in the soap operas shown on Rede Globo between 2012 and 2018 and for this, we use the conceptualization of the typifications of Raymond Williams (1979). We then list as a research problem the typifications of domestic workers and the guidelines set about housework in Rede Globo soap operas between 2012 and 2018, based on their anchoring in the lived culture. As a general objective we seek to intersect the lived and the recorded culture, from this, to identify the types referring to the maids present in the analyzed productions and the main topics addressed in the plots. As specific objectives we intend to: contextualize about domestic employment in Brazil through the lived culture, from its emergence to the present, relating to gender issues, and race; verify how the rights of maids are triggered and/or silenced within the frameworks, and identify the typifications of maids. For this, we chose to elaborate on a methodological path of our own, based on the perspective of Cultural Studies, listing two instances of analysis, the first being the lived culture, and the second the recorded culture Williams (1979). As an analytical instrument, we use the textual analysis of Cassetti and Chio (1999). At the end of our analysis process, we can identify that during the year of implementation of the housekeeping PEC, ie, in 2012, the soap operas acted as an educational form and I often wondered about the benefits they would bring to both domestic workers and employers. We emphasize that these issues gained prominence in the plot from concerns about the lack and / or withdrawal of labor rights. Thus, they even pointed out what these rights would be, such as the payment of salaries, overtime payment and the obligation of the signed wallet were the main guidelines raised by the plots. However, in recent years analyzed, especially referring to the soap opera "Segundo Sol", domestic employment was compared to slavery, but still used it to question the labor rights already mentioned. The second questioning of our problem referred to the typifications of the maids, hence we realize that built from three struggling typifications; adoring and cinderella. The first typology identified is based on a purely meritocratic discourse, centering on character the ways of ascending social class and/or supporting his family; second, they did not crave another kind of job in their lives, and all were comfortable with their situation as domestic workers; the third, is understood from stereotyped characteristics of the role of women and this profession.
