Resumo: | This study analyzes the role of food and food culture within the editorial space of Revista do Globo (1929–1967), aiming to observe its transformations and continuities to understand the social and cultural relationships mediated by food. Interpretations of food and culinary devices are examined through the textual and visual content published in the magazine, revealing social codes and identity markers that serve as references for groups and individuals while also reflecting patterns of conduct and behavior related to food, establishing protocols of commensality and food sociability. The period under investigation, from 1929 to 1967, corresponds to the circulation of Revista do Globo and is marked by transformations resulting from urban modernization and technological, scientific, and conceptual innovations, which are reflected in food practices and culinary devices. This qualitative, exploratory documentary analysis seeks to interpret meanings to enhance the understanding of social dynamics. The findings reveal various narratives mirrored in food, allowing, through readings and interpretations, the revival of memory and the reactivation of the past. Both processes foster comparisons and analyses between the investigated context, the present and the past, as well as the relationships between food and social life. Among these findings is the recognition of food as an agent of social, cultural, political, and economic transformation. This construction contributes to the appreciation of heritage, especially as represented by Revista do Globo. |
