For this growing number of organizations intent on investing in issues related to new values such as citizenship, ethics and environmental concerns. There is adopting a more sensitive community issues or even acceptance of responsibility for the impacts of their production processes, inserting themselves in what was initially called the Social Responsibility in a business environment and developed the concept of Elkington (1998) generated a discussion about a new movement that was called a sustainable paradigm. The subject has been highlighted because it can become a barrier or an opportunity for organizations. The aim of this study therefore was to determine "how chemical companies with international operations are structured to sustainable management in their business?" The results of the study, qualitative and descriptive, were obtained from the interviews were semi-structured with key managers from three large organizations and secondary data analysis. Data were analyzed using content analysis technique through which interrelationships currents showed the use of sustainable management in practice by organizations, despite the use diferents. Motivations are so general that even the sustainable management is closely linked to supporting tools and not as part of building business strategy although it is possible to realize that they seek a greater involvement in this direction when they start to review their strategy. This question may be perceived at different levels between the companies, but which highlights the issue is the lack of direct indicators for sustainable investment and return. Sustainable management proved to be a source of opportunity for overseas business for the companies studied, since the preparation for performance with environmental legislation, global requirements, raw materials and processes environmentally friendly organizations prepared to market at the global level and in Brazil note that the innovative products for their production process and / or alternative raw material does not get highlighted. Acting in a sustainable way possible the development of strategies agreed with conscious posture and changes in general cultural terms, which can generate new opportunities for those who can monitor the global business landscape.
