The central idea of this work is the association between practical activities and Science History to teaching Science in the high school. This association has great potential to motivate the students to independent learning, permits the enhancing of skills and make easier the comprehension of the nature of scientific knowledge. The chapters are organized in two groups. The first one, chapters one to three, are the results of investigations about microscopy history and practical activities applied to Biology Cellular teaching, the development of a very simple microscopy and an analysis of the classes suggestions published in the Portal do Professor (MEC/Brazil). The second group of chapters is the proposal of a course for teacher formation about planning and application of practical activities in the high school.
