Resumo: | This research analyzes the argumentative strategies (BRETON, 1999, 2012) used by Veja and CartaCapital when they refer to Dilma Rousseff's impeachment process that took place in 2016. The theoretical framework of argumentation allows us to affirm that the media produces versions about facts, which can also be found in the potentialities of the event concept (QUERÉ, 2012; CHARAUDEAU, 2015a). In addition, the argumentation helps to maintain that the media is a political actor (BORRAT, 1989) that when explains what happens has an interest in making the public adhere to its ideas through a discourse consisting of strategies, effects and processes (CHARAUDEAU, 2007, 2008, 2015a, 2016). In the end, it can be observed that using a wide range of strategies the magazines differ more from what they resemble when they argue about Dilma Rousseff's impeachment. Some specific aspects of these differences are related to the denomination "coup", granted to the impeachment process; to demonstrations by impeachment being "articulated" by parties and entrepreneurs or "will of the people"; and in relation to the measures employed by the future government Michel Temer. |
