Resumo: The present study aimed to diagnose what types of organizational silences are presented by the public servant of the Federal University of Santa Maria, identifying among them, the one that has greater preponderance. The study includes four main areas: Organizational Behavior, Communication, Organizational Silence and Types of Silence. The study was based on the adaptation of the research on organizational silence conducted by Knoll e Van Dick (2012), applying it in the public sector, more specifically with technical-administrative servants in education of a federal institution of higher education. In this sense, this research is classified as quantitative, being a descriptive survey. The results, based on the analysis of the variables contemplated in the research, made it possible to identify that among the technical-administrative servants in education of the Federal University of Santa Maria there is a preponderance of the Silence Pro-Social. From this, some suggestions for improvements were made, such as the inclusion of the themes "Silence in Organizations" and "Pleasure and Suffering at Work" in training activities promoted by the Institution's People Management sector.
