Resumo: Some methodologies were adapted in order to evaluate the inhibition’s capacity of growing and production of aflatoxins, in vitro, of Aspergillus parasiticus (NRLL 2999) by nine maize’s strain. The evaluation of antifungal activity constitutes a reading of the fungal growth on potato-dextrose-agar after five days of cultivation under the effect of each maize’s strain. The process of classifying the quantity of aflatoxins produced was accomplished by high performance liquid chromatography. In so doing, it was observed that the inhibition’s capacity of fungal growth and the aflatoxins production varied between 37,62 % - 52,93 % and 15,07 % - 82,47 %, respectively. In this way the results confirmed the possible application of the methodology used, as well as they portrayed a meaningful inhibition’s capacity by the nine strains on A. parasiticus. In keeping with that, the evaluation was based in the inhibition’s potential of growing in the aflatoxins production and in the correlation created from these variables: inhibition factor (IF). It is important to mention that this factor (IF) allowed the uniformity of the results, obtaining a unique inhibition percentage, which varied between 44,35 % and 90,24 %.
