Resumo: This study aims to analyze the use of plastic diaphragm in the speaker industry replacing the existing diaphragms (phenolic and titanium). For this analysis of comparative studies of product, process and economic viability will be conducted. The comparison is performed through practical methods, with construction of prototypes and conducting comparative measurements, and also through computer simulations, where will be used the finite element method and analyze the electroacoustic transducer. For performing such analysis is necessary to characterize the mechanical plastic, titanium and phenolic (Poisson s ratio, Young s modulus and damping), their vibrational analysis (vibrational modes of the diaphragm) and acoustic analysis (frequency response function and sensitivity). Due to increased market competitiveness, companies do not measure efforts to ensure space in the market. New products, innovation and creativity are the hallmarks of a globalized market. Cost, time and quality dictate the pace of a consumerist market, closely linked these factors are crucial to maintaining the company s market. In this sense the research on the use of new materials behind the renovation products, technological and marketing advantages. Achieve cost and quality combine with technological innovation is what every company aspires to but can achieve this level of excellence is not easy, requires large investments, research and determination. Using plastic diaphragm drivers (transducers for audio playback in high frequency range) opens a possibility of renewal in these products.
