Resumo: Sustainable development refers to a worldwide concern, so that the search for a better future involves economic, social and environmental decisions. Such concerns have motivated companies to create new strategies and new business models that minimize their negative socioenvironmental impacts. In this scenario, the PSS product-service system presents itself as a way to stimulate sustainable production and consumption. From this, the present study aims to analyze how the adoption of product-service system (PSS) business models and their association with business performance. To achieve this objective, a qualitative approach was used through multiple case studies, operationalized through semi-structured interviews and secondary data analysis. Four companies that adopt different PSS business model, located in Rio Grande do Sul and the Distrito Federal, participated in the study. Organizations were analyzed under three aspects: the type of PSS, the PSS business model and business performance. From the evidence found, it was possible to observe the main motivators for the adoption of PSS business models, relevant aspects of the PSS business model, the concern with the continuous improvement of business performance and the importance of innovation and sustainability for these companies. Thus, the results found allowed us to confirm that there is an association between the adoption of PSS business models and business performance.
