Resumo: The present study is on competition and strategy on learning and culture organization area, having as central issue the analisis of the transformations that have been faced by a metalurgical company (Coqueiro) for a century of existance. The changes that have been ocurred from external and internal pressures can be valid to the internal public when the ocurrence of cognitive, technical and behavior transformations needed to understand and to see the environment and to start pro actives internal movements. The specific objectives are concerned on finding out what organizational values maintain the dynamics of the changes, discovering factors that generate the commitment, knowing and understanding changes that happened at the founder and the successor epoca and identify the main changes that have ocurred at the company until now. This research justifies itself because of the great changes on competitive markets, making their sections more productive and faster in a way that they can satisfy the expectations of the companies and the markets as well. Two hypotheses werw raised as responsible for this present study: the company has well known values that are spread for all organization and the factors responsible for the dynamics of the changes on each phases, are directly related to the dominant values. The data collected through half-structured interviews, observation and documental analisis werw analyzed by contents Analysis that want to interpretate the interviews texts.According to the CEO of the company, the survival of the company depends on the quality of its products that s why Facas Coqueiro has control and execution plans on knives production process. As time goes by, the knives have been modernized and nowadays, the company survives just because it has kept the same dedication since the foundation epoque. Its credibility has been used not only to conquest markets, investidors, professionals and administrators but also to work as a shield against the opponents. The Bianchini & Cia. Ltda., in order to face a competitive world, bringing good values to the society, ethics, having a good relationship with the environment, contributing to the social and cultural development. The longevity of the company comes from the individual respect, security, pride of the work, social integration, benefits, economic and simbolic rewards. So, through benefits and rewards, the company guarantees quality of life, creating in the worker s mind a simbolic value about the brand Coqueiro as a safety place and a good mother to get not only the physical power and time of the workers but also their hearts and minds.
