Nowadays, tourism is an activity that presents an expressive growth worldwide. It provides a market work in several fields, being an income generator and contributing to the improvement and the quality of the places that have conditions to work with it. It is necessary to have in mind that the tourist practice produces negative effects and is harmful to the environment and ecosystems in general. Therefore, this activity began to be developed under a new environmental paradigm, taking into account the most significant pillars of sustentability, otherwise it would harm the environment and have a decay in tourism. This work had as objective to analyze tourism as an economic growth factor of the city and evaluate the environmental impact caused by local industries that might harm tourism. In its development besides bibliography research, a questionnaire was made aiming to make a diagnosis of the city. The interview was useful also to obtain data about tourism economic income and the local economy. It was used a spreadsheet with this income data to compare the economic sustentability of the local tourism. Using the spreadsheet of environmental impact evaluation it was verified the situation of the main industries in relation to tourism. After the analysis of all factors it was verified that the community involved considers local tourism as an economic growth promoter, praise its potential and hopes its patrimony will be secured as mankind patrimony. The environmental impacts evaluated are little noticeable and specific not exerting any influence over the local tourism yet. The economy generated by the tourism activity is still small, that is 0.73% of the city income, much smaller than the agribusiness, the predominant activity. The conclusion is that the city does not show considerable environmental impact that can influence tourism nowadays, at the same time the tourism is still insufficient as an economic contribution to local economy.
