Educação em saúde com familiares cuidadores de crianças com necessidades especiais de saúde: convergência da prática com a pesquisa

Resumo: The family care of children with special health care needs requires the adoption of numerous measures of coping to p erform daily life activities . Nurses have an important role as responsible for educational activities that assist familie s to prepare for this situation , in cl uding them in the care provided , making them co participant of the recovery and promotion of child health process. The study aimed to develop an innovative program of health education to family caregivers of children with special health care needs in th e hospital setting to home care . This is a qualitative research carried out by the me thod of the convergent analysis . The setting was a pediat ric unit of a teaching hospital, the study subjects were family caregivers of children with special health care ne eds hospitalized in the unit during the period from March to July 2013. Data collection was based on four consecutive s tages: participant observation, individual interviews , educational activities and the convergent interview. Data analysis was developed a ccording to the assumptions of the convergent analysis that included interviews pre and post educational practice, the transcript from their comments, the survey recorded during educational practice and obse rvations noted in a field diary . The project was approved by the Ethics in Research Committe e under protocol number 183 573. The results showed that : the family caregiver holds a knowledge that must be respected and valued for there to be a transformative action, the inclusion of the family in care shou ld be a gradual process so that you can absorb and re )create strategies for care at home, the sharing of knowledge and practices brought noticeable in the evolution of care Conclusion up contributions to the process of health education is a c omplex and m ultifaceted , but could contribute to a better quality of life for th ese children and their families , allowing the construction of autonomy of family members of critical and participator y manner . We recommend the development of this education program on hea lth with all parents of children with special health care n eeds during their hospital stay
