Resumo: The production of municipal solid waste is increasing e is linked to the constant population growth. This fact necessitates studies on this material to predict its behavior in relation to stressstrain and, especially, the change in its properties over time. Thus, this dissertation aimed to calibrate models for predicting the behavior of municipal solid waste in response to timedependent settlements based on geotechnical e topographic monitoring of a large landfill. The geotechnical monitoring e topographic survey were used to understand the settlements experienced by the landfill at different points before e after the installation of surface markers, forming the baseline data for the calibration of the prediction models for the waste behavior. The implementation of analytical e constitutive models was carried out directly through a spreadsheet, where each layer of waste deposition was considered separately. For the calibration of the different models used, simultaneous data from five surface markers were considered, to perform a joint calibration, contrary to the usual method of individual calibration by point of interest. The research resulted in the calibration of input parameters for 16 models predicting time-dependent settlements of municipal solid waste. The comparison of the results obtained among themselves e with the technical literature showed great divergence, as well as the results in the literature among themselves, reinforcing the fact that for understanding the behavior of municipal solid waste from a specific location, it must be studied individually, e the models must be calibrated exclusively for the same location or nearby areas. Furthermore, there was a significant difference in settlement data when considering only the surface markers e the complete data—surface markers plus settlement data from the topographic survey, indicating the need for a settlement survey prior to the installation of surface markers.
