Resumo: | Language is not unchangeable, but not many studies in speech pathology are related to linguistic variation. In different cities there is accent variation even in native people. This study has the purpose to verify how the acquisition of the archiphoneme /R/ occurs in coda (medial and final) position, Santa Maria and Sobradinho, two cities in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, present different accents, considering subjects with typical phonological development. Two samples were part of this research, 52 children from Sobradinho, with ages between 3:2 and 5:4, and the second sample, from Santa Maria, consisted of 60 children with ages between 2:6 and 5:0. The speech data collection was performed through the use of the instrument Child’s Phonological Assessment, and, as a complement, 36 pictures was used. The pictures emphasized the archiphoneme /R/ in coda position. The considered intervening variables were: age, sex, tonicity, preceding and following syllable context, number of syllables, grammatical class, and syllable and word position. The statistical program VARBRUL was used for the analysis, with significance level of 5%. In general, it was possible to verify that the variable age influenced the acquisition of the archiphoneme /R/ in coda, in both cities. The emergence and the acquisition of the variants occurred in different age groups. Besides, the intervening variables selected as statistically significant were different in each city, as well as the used repair strategies. So, it was possible to observe that different intervening variables influence the acquisition of the archiphoneme /R/ in coda, according to the variant which is used in each city. |
