Resumo: information and services through the World Wide Web. The theoretical framework was composed of studies about the e-Gove and references for evaluation of governmental websites and portals. The main objective of this study was to verify the perception of the scholars in relation to the Portal of the Federal University of Santa Maria (Portal UFSM). This study was driven due to the ideas that emerged when it was verified that scholars look for face-to-face services in order to obtain documents, services, and information that are available on the Portal. In order to contextualize the research problem, a trajectory of the Portal UFSM was described. To verify the perception of the scholars in relation to the portal, six dimensions were considered: Maturity, Availability, Easy Use, Reliability, Accessibility, and Transparency, proposed by Rampelotto, Löber, and Visentini (2015), and the dimension of Content, defined by Eschenfelder et al. (1997). Among the objectives was included presenting suggestions for improvement that may contribute to the effectiveness of this practice at UFSM. The operationalization of the research, of descriptive nature, on its first stage, included a qualitative approach that aimed at identifying the context of use of the institutional portal, designed through documental analysis and interviews with technicaladministrative staff. On the second stage, the research assumed a quantitative approach, using the tool of survey in order to describe the profile of the respondents, and to identify the perception of the scholars. The results obtained allowed the identification that the main objective of the Portal UFSM is communication, and that its trajectory and evolution are based on the parameters indicated by the Federal Government. Also, on each new version of the Portal were identified enhancements that improved the levels of Maturity, Availability, Easy Use, Reliability, Accessibility, Transparency, and Content. The perception of the scholars in relation to the portal is better in the items related to the technological resources such as Availability and Reliability; the other items presented lower scores, being Maturity the most negative perception.
