In this dissertation is presented a contribution to the installation of a medium voltage laboratory to perform tests on power transformers.in the Smart Grid Institute of Federal University of Santa Maria – INRIMT, focusing in the Brazilian Labeling Program. First, a review of the national and international technical standards and policies necessary to understand the importance and necessity of the tests listed was made. Afterwards, a structural study of the laboratory is made and, using the analysis, improvement opportunities are detected through procedure’s automation, relating what structural changes will be necessary to the adequate the automated system. After that, the projects are presented, including structure, hardware and software that were developed according to the needs of each test and the laboratory. Finally, the work is concluded presenting the synthesis of what was studied, applied, the obstacles and evaluates the directions that can be taken to continue the process of laboratory improvement.
