The purpose of this dissertation is to use a product design methodology to obtain the design requirements of a cold room for apple storage. The motivation to do this dissertation was the lack of knowledge about design methodologies and design process literature by professionals that work in the refrigeration industry. For that reason, a deeper study about design systematization was developed to obtain more knowledge about existent design methodologies. With the knowledge acquired, a case study, that consisted of the application of the Modular Product Design Methodology, developed by Juscelino de Farias Maribondo, was carried out to obtain the design requirements of a cold room for apple storage. The results obtained with the application of the methodology were very significant, because by using its tools and documents of support, that were unknown until now, we obtained a better vision and organization of the tasks to be done during the design and assembly of the cold room. The main contribution of this work is to divulge and use tools that may help the professionals of design area develop new products or improve existent products.
