Resumo: This work is linked to the research line 2- School practices and public policies, of the Federal University of Santa Maria post-graduation program in education. From the analysis of the speeches of the UFSM EAD Literature Course teachers who have worked as tutors on the course, it was analyzed what are the meanings about the pedagogical work and its mediation in their work. From this perspective, it was performed a study about the creation and implementation of the distance education system. The data were generated through interviews with the six professors whose have worked as tutors in the Portuguese Language EAD course. During this research, the produced data were analyzed based on the dialectic perspective, understood as the theoretical and methodological support. In the end, it was observed that there is not much clarity regarding to the pedagogical work mediation relations conducted by teachers who have worked as tutors. In addition, it was verified that all the individuals consider their work as pedagogical work; however, they believe that the major responsibility for the course success and its graduates depends on your individual effort. It is noteworthy that there is a great difference between the student group of EAD Literature Course and the face to- face one and, once again, what differentiates them is the effort and dedication employed during the course. It was also observed that all interviewees believes that their experience as tutors is fundamental to carry out his work as today teachers. In addition, it is presented the issue of precarious work of tutors both related to their remuneration and the work done by them, which coincides largely with the work of teachers. In the same context, both the work of teachers and tutors intensifies, causing a decrease in free time and an extension of working hours.
