Resumo: | The present work it’s about an study of protection of AC transmission lines connected to high voltage direct current (HVDC) systems. First, it presents a theoretical foundation regarding the protection functions and teleprotection schemes most applied in AC transmission lines. A brief history of HVDC systems is also developed and the basic characteristics and configurations of these systems are presented. Through an analysis of the basic control principles of the current source converter (CSC), a fault analysis is performed on the AC side of the converter. Fault simulations were also performed through a Matlab - Simulink software base model. Subsequently, a case study of a 525 kV transmission line connected to an HVDC system was performed, which presented real problems of improper performance of protection. It was presented the development of a replica of the actual system under study, implemented in the laboratory to perform tests. Finally, results obtained from end-to-end tests in the real system are presented and the modifications implemented in the real system are analyzed. |
