Resumo: Sustainable construction is an extremely current concept and it calls a set of practices adopted before, during and after the construction work with the purpose of obtaining a building that does not harm the environment and that improves the quality of life of its users. However, it is perceived that the focus in this area in the world and more specifically in Aracaju-SE is still not sustainable and is far from it, due to a financial issue, the lack of knowledge and a deep look at sustainable thinking. In this work, it will be evaluated, through an exploratory field survey, how the construction companies work on this question of sustainability trying to understand if there are already constructive processes that already incorporate this look and if they do not exist, why they do not do it. Therefore, the main objective of this work is to evaluate the constructors and their involvement in the area of sustainable development, their construction processes showing the importance of the involvement of sustainable thinking. Thus, based on this analysis, it can be verified that a new thinking can be confirmed, giving a new look at the direction in construction, positively compromising with the advancement of the sustainable system and the environment. In order to base and possess the data for the analysis of this research, a questionnaire was created, based on an existing SEBRAE questionnaire that focuses necessarily on the importance of sustainable construction and thinking. This questionnaire was created with 23 generalized questions divided into two groups directed to the objectives listed. After the creation of the questions, it was organized through a website with an online research system (onlinepesquisa.com), a virtual questionnaire to facilitate the scope of the interview and improve the level of it. The survey was sent to fifty (50) companies, large, medium or small, in the construction sector, in Aracaju-Sergipe. We were also visited three factories in Brazil from different sectors, SCA in Rio Grande do Sul (customized furniture), the Santa Luzia Santa Catarina (parts and PVC skirting boards) and Biancogres in the Holy Spirit (floors and coatings), with to verify and verify how the entire process of manufacturing and reuse of the parts was being done and if the focus on the sustainable construction process was being a reality. After the research, the results were analyzed separately by groups being based on theoretical references justifying the reason for the question and the focus on sustainability and the environment. Amongst some analyzes, three were highlighted, which involve waste, social responsibility and public sector benefits and incentives. The first illustrates that more than half of the construction companies do not care about the waste issue, the second shows that most of the construction companies do not participate in actions with a social character and the third emphasizes that exclusively no construction company received any kind of incentive to carry out works of this nature, that is, towards sustainability.
