Resumo: The formation of the Brazilian agrarian structure is based on landed concentration from the colonial period, with the policy of sesmarias and reaffirmed by the Law of Land of 1850. When studying the Brazilian agrarian structure in the eighteen hundred, it is fundamental to look at the forms of land appropriation and of the relations resulting from them, as well as to analyze the role played by the policies and practices of organization of the territory. Based on the premise of the indissociability between time and space and the fundamentals of Historical Geography, this thesis seeks to analyze the transformations that occurred in the socio-spatial configuration of Sergipe during the 19th century. In order to better operationalize the data to be worked on in this thesis, we chose as stage of investigation, from the availability of the sources, as well as the geo-historical conditions, the municipalities of Estância and Porto da Folha as representatives, respectively, of the Mata region -Sul and Francis. From the consultation of land registry sources, we sought to analyze the legal land ownership, the forms of properties and their uses, as well as to identify the men and women who lived in Estância and Porto da Folha between 1850 and 1900 and because they chose these space to live, which relationships established with space, how these men shaped and were shaped by space, what economic activities they practiced and social roles they exercised, thus establishing a profile of these residents and the composition of their fortunes. We still map the conflicts and networks of sociability and solidarity built by these men. This study allowed us to unveil economic, political, military and symbolic projects at stake that, through different means, sought to consolidate. Thus, as class interests, diverse political and economic conceptions, private or state power relations, the resistance of marginalized groups etc that become evident in spatial forms.
