The aim of this paper is to understand the particular religiosity of university students belonging to generation Y, through a case study, considering their recent sociocultural context, namely, contemporary modernity. The participants of the research were 190 students from the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) aged between 18 and 30 years old. The methodology of this study includes literature reviews of the so-called “crisis of modernity” and the matter of the new generations, especially generation Y. Additionally, field research was used as an analytical tool. The data collection from the field and the literature reviewed suggest that the new university young generation show a peculiar and different religiosity if compared to previous generations.
