Resumo: |
This doctoral research aimed to understand the meanings constructed about adolescents in conflict with the law produced by the State and those involved in the socio-educational system from a gender perspective. It sought to emphasize the ways in which the State produces the meanings of what it means to be a woman and how they perceive themselves in that context. The research problem consisted in understanding how the social erasure policy works and which elements are implicit in that process to which women offenders are submitted. The investigation was carried out at the Women's Socio-educational Unit - UNIFEM, in Aracaju-SE, in which the adolescents are following socio-educational measures for committing infractions. The methodology was formed from direct observation of the field, as well as through semi-structured interviews with different actors in the context. The current difficulties of the system were observed, as well as the offenders' experiences, the types of infractions, seeking, at other times, elements to accompany this dynamic and try to understand the gender and power relations in the world of infractions. The investigative proposal consisted of characterizing the social construction of offending adolescence, interspersing with issues of childhood and Brazilian history, as well as relevant legislation. Knowledge about contemporary violence, juvenile killing practices in Latin America and their correlations with youth in conflict with the law were identified, enunciating gender differences in the field of infractions, with emphasis on inequalities, on the marks of coloniality, still existing, as well as the connections that indicate the relationships with the teenagers. Finally, we present the discussions emerging from the field, the daily practices of the actors involved, to understand the notions that adolescents have about the situations faced inside and outside the socio-educational system, the infractions, labels and subjectivities developed. The hypothesis that the State subjectively produces different ways to hold adolescents accountable, using unequal gender relations as a device in this process, not disentangling itself from the concept of incarceration, was confirmed during the investigation. The analysis process took place with the theoretical contribution proposed for the research, through critical discourse analysis, using the time and space categories as a way of understanding the field. The research results demonstrate that the social erasure policy works slowly and gradually, being supported by several elements, such as control mechanisms, institutional positions based on coloniality, different treatment between institutions based on gender and the logic of incarceration. These elements contribute to social erasure as a way of maintaining inequalities. ____________________________________________________________________ |
