Resumo: The strengthening of democracy is a result of citizens taking part in public affairs, several principles were enforced to ensure the people's right to exercise social control. The Brazilian constitution text ensured the necessary fundamentals required to create a culture of transparency and access to information, in order to encourage society to take an active part in monitoring the government acts. Following the publication of the Law of Access to Information (LAI) transparency became the rule, and secrecy became the exception. The Law 12,527 / 2011 (LAI) was brought so that the Government is obligated to publish the information produced by its bodies and entities on its official websites. As the Federal Institute of Sergipe is an autarchy powered by the Federal Executive Branch, it must also make available its management acts. Thus, this research had the objective of analyzing whether the Federal Institute of Sergipe is complying with the Law of Access to Information and being transparent with the information made available on its website, through the use of the disclosure Index of the Federal Universities - IndexDUF, was made by Yuri Pessôa (2013), who focused on measuring the degree of transparency of the information made available within the 59 Federal Universities of Brazil. This a descriptive, bibliographic and documentary type of research. The data were analyzed using simple descriptive statistics and content analysis. The results presented an average level of transparency, as well as a partial compliance with the Law on Access to Information from the institution, requiring intervention actions to increase the use of the governmental official websites as well as an increase in transparency in the management of public policies within the IFS.
