Resumo: |
New educational approaches and concepts have been incorporated into the health education. These approaches seek to value the student as an active subject in the process of teachinglearning in different contexts and situations, constituting the object of one of the aspects of educational research that is focused on the identification and characterization of cognitive patterns of students and teachers, their styles, preferences and experiences in order to learn. On this, the present study aimed to characterize the styles and learning strategies among students of undergraduate degree in pharmacy from the Universidade Federal de Sergipe (UFS) of São Cristóvão Campus. This work consists of an observational, descriptive case study with cross-sectional delineation that is divided into two steps: 1) It was initially described the theoretical foundation that discusses about teaching-learning process, showing the main theme-related learning theories, then the definitions about styles and learning strategies; It has complemented by a systematic literature review, held to identify the indexed studies that investigated styles and learning strategies among students of Pharmacy; 2) in field research focused on the characterization of learning strategies was applied the questionnaire LASSI (Learning and Study Strategies Inventory) and for the characterization of learning styles ILS instrument was used (Index of. Learning Styles). LASSI survey was applied to a sample of 192 students, with an average age of 21.3 (± 3.12). Of these students, 143 (74.5%) were female and 111 (57.8%) studied high school at private school. Significant differences were observed in the use of learning and study strategies relating to concentration and use subscales of study, and there were no significant differences in the other subscales. The results do not have any association between sociodemographic variables, academic environment and the teaching-learning relationships throughout the course in the profile of learning strategies. The sample investigated for characterization of learning styles covered 171 students, with an average age of 21.1 (±2.98) years. Of these students, 129 (75.4%) were female and 42 (24.67%) male, 96 (56.8%) studied high school at private school and 73 (43.2%) studied in public school. About regard to learning styles, the major averages were observed, to the sensory/intuitive styles, with 5.02 average (± 2.794) and visual/verbal styles, averaging 4.40 (± 2.763). There was predominance among students of sensory styles (87.8%), visual (69.8%) and sequential (61.6%), and the intuitive style was the least frequent among students with 8.7%. In the face of scarcity of the studies that assessed the styles or learning strategies between Brazilian students, more investigations in pharmacy are required in order to determine in more detail the factors and their relationships with the use of these styles and learning strategies in the academic development of the students |
