Resumo: In this text the result of a research is presented, accomplished between October of 2009 and February of 2011, in the which 36 people were interviewed, of which 31 are resident or they work in the community. Such research sought to identify mathematics knows produced by children originating from a community of craft fishermen, and the possible approaches and estrangements of those with the mathematical knowledge transmitted in the school atmosphere. To reach such attempt I used theoretical and methodological contributions of the ethnography and of the approach of the ethnomathematic, such option contributed to become possible an understanding of the mathematics knows produced inside and outside of the school atmosphere. The research was accomplished in a community of workers of the craft fishing, located in the denominated area of Areia Branca, in the municipal district of Aracaju, with six children daughters of fishermen and that they were studying the years begin of the Fundamental Teaching in the local public school. To identify the knows produced, the children were accompanied in their daily activities, as games, tasks of the fishing, of the home and of the school. The identification of the approaches and estrangements of the knows produced by the children with worked them in the school atmosphere was done mainly from the notebooks. It was verified that the children live in a rich atmosphere in games like pimbarra, bottle, pega-goré among others and tasks, what makes possible the construction of time indicators, space finders, calculations, mass measures and of length own of the fishing community. And that those knows in spite of very close of the ones that are transmitted at the school in the years begins of the Fundamental Teaching, they are not taken as reference, as approach strategy between the community and the school. On the other hand, it was identified that in some situations that need calculations the children look for to use the techniques that they are taught at the school, but that still didn't get if it adapts of all of the beginnings, for that they develop own strategies to operate. In the others knows the estrangement, it was more evident, because to the that everything indicates the focus of the teaching of Mathematics it still continues to be the use of the conventional algorithms of the basic operations, without taking in consideration the knows produced by the children, in others ambient. It was verified that, still, no there is at least in the school atmosphere the adoption of didactic strategies that allow the children to use yours ethnomathematic as starting point for to become effective your the learning.
