Resumo: The purpose of this research is to investigate how ecotourism and nature tourism are being conceived and addressed in the qualification and training courses of the tourism agents of the State of Sergipe, through the diagnostic of the degree of insertion of the environmental theme. The research is motivated by prognosis of receptive tourism growth in Sergipe. According to the World Tourism Organization, ecotourism is a tourist activity that uses natural resources for its practice and that links the environmental education as a requirement for the conservation of these resources. By acknowledging the environmental education as a fundamental part of the process of raising awareness and caring for the environment, the focus is directly on professionals who work directly in the operationalization of the ecotourism activity such as tourist guides, waiters, cooks, sailors, bus and vans drivers and chambermaids. These are tourism agents who do not need higher level training to exercise their activities and receive from the touristic trade their own training. The research has at its first moment the construction of the theoretical reference, based on the data of Plano de Desenvolvimento Integrado do Turismo Sustentável (2013), published by the Ministry of Tourism, which contributed to delimiting the area of case study, defining the social actors involved and identifying the entities that offer training courses for these professionals. In the second moment, the collection of qualitative and quantitative of the offered courses was made using the method of analysis of Bardin’s content with a corpus made up of the course menus, including the analysis of the bibliographic reference used. Canindé do São Francisco and Aracaju make up the spatial cut of the methodology, as they are the largest tourist receiving cities in the state of Sergipe. In conclusion, a 50% medium grade was obtained when the courses are offered by federal public institutions, and 16% in the courses offered by state public policy programs in partnership with private institutions and no insertion degree when the courses are offered by the private system. The representativity of the institutions were Instituto Federal de Sergipe with best insertion degree and Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Comercial de Sergipe with low representativity in environmental issues.
