Modeling is the art of building models, and in its ramifications we highlight optimization models, a technique used to maximize or minimize a function. Optimization has several subdivisions, among them, linear programming (P L). The P L helped solve the diet problem proposed by Stigler in 1945. Therefore, the intention of this study is to present ideas to minimize the costs of school feeding in a city called F´atima, in the state of Bahia, in Brazil. The study showed that disregarding the palatability of the students it is possible to guarantee all nutritional values for 1 (one) daily meal, at minimum cost.
