The main objective of this research is to analyze the processes by which rafters enter the artisanal craft. This phenomenon is a collective experience lived by fishermen from different generations in the community of Iguape, a coastal region in the municipality of Aquiraz, in the state of Ceará. Specifically, we sought to understand how the masters of the territory, based on kinship and brotherhood relations, mobilize specific cultural practices that forge the necessary conditions for young people to become fishermen daily, with the marks of this transmission being imprinted not only throughout the territory but also on the bodies and social imaginary of these men. To deal with these issues, we used the comprehensive method and narrative interviews to understand the meanings attributed by these individuals to the daily unfolding of this phenomenon. Fieldwork, photographs, and other research materials were essential for weaving together the discussions in question.
