Resumo: With the rise of knowledge to the condition of most important asset for organizations with regard to achieving their goals, facing and adapting to the changes brought about by the new times, it became essential to understand how this intangible asset flows in the organizational environment. Able to transmit know-how, experiences and skills, capitalizing on new opportunities and innovations, knowledge flows within organizations need analysis and understanding so that they can be managed in order to provide such benefits. In this context, this research aimed to describe the knowledge flows related to the administrative activities of the Sertão Campus of the Federal University of Alagoas, an out-of-office university campus located in the brazilian Nordeste hinterland, in the city of Delmiro Gouveia, Alagoas. For the achievement of this research, an exploratory and descriptive methodology with a quantitative approach was adopted. Assuming itself as a census survey, this study, which surveyed a population of 47 civil servants, used, as an instrument of data collection, a self-administered structured online questionnaire, whose collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, using of arithmetic and weighted means and distribution of relative frequencies. The results found that the knowledge flows of the studied organization are mostly composed of explicit knowledge; current flows between members of departments always occur, while flows between departments and between them and their higher bodies, occasionally; the knowledge life cycle is linked to non-IT-based practices; communication failures are the main critical barrier; the organizational climate favorable to personal interactions proved to be an important facilitator; Socialization and Internalization processes occur more frequently, while Combination and Externalization processes, less. It was concluded that there is a need for Knowledge Management initiatives on certain factors, such as communication failures, low interdepartmental interaction and storage of knowledge, in order to maximize the effectiveness of flows in order to minimize their barriers and take advantage of the favorable environment.
