Resumo: The corn agribusiness in Sergipe is a recent phenomenon, it has reached its apogee in the last ten years with the participation of groups linked to input and machinery companies in the economy of the municipalities. This process has been implementing contradictory relations between an emerging agribusiness and the traditional production processes of family agriculture in the studied areas. In this sense, this research aims to understand how agribusiness has been establishing, in Carira and Simão Dias cities, a new social and economic context from this production, portraying the action of this phenomenon in the dynamics of Sergipe agriculture, besides explaining the whole corn system production. Topics such as: inputs, new services implemented in the cities and environmental impacts installed in the studied areas will take place in this research. The fundamental question of this doctoral dissertation is to analyze the interfaces of corn agribusiness with family agriculture in Sergipe, their particularities and specificities, as well as the unfolding of this system. The analysis consists of the empirical-analytical approach, which has the theoretical basis as the first procedure, followed by the use of data collection techniques, in order to obtain primary data: from the application of semi-structured questionnaires with social actors, as well as conducting interviews in some agencies and entities; and secondary data: with data collection in institutions such as IBGE, EMDAGRO, EMBRAPA and CODISE. Finally, tabulation and analysis of the obtained information are the following steps. When checking the municipal production data (IBGE, 2013), it was verified that the largest corn producers in the state of Sergipe are Carira, with 196,560 tons, and Simão Dias, with 186,000 tons. With this study, it was observed that the uncontrolled expansion of corn cultivation in these places was accompanied by the intensive use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, and machinery also, which promotes everything from soil compaction to contamination of people through misuse of pesticides. Another highlighted aspect in the research is the climatic adversities that have been altering the production data due to the great drought that has affected the studied municipalities. On the other hand, agribusiness has been promoting a new economic dynamic there with the insertion of new activities related to corn cultivation. The research aims to contribute from a new look at the repercussions of agribusiness action on the dynamics of Sergipe agriculture.________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
