Resumo: |
The fight of women for insertion and permanence in social spaces is not recent, there are several obstacles faced that prevented and still prevent them from moving forward. Historically, it was only after contingencies (such as wars) and social movements struggles (such as feminism) that there was an incentive for the insertion of women in some professional spaces. However, some practices still remain, which make these places a representation of the old dichotomous form (public and private), resulting in inequality of working conditions. Affirmative actions arise in this social scenario, to minimize such rooted practices, however, we consider that this action is still not effective to guarantee women's right to equality in these spaces, mainly because we consider the existence of discriminatory processes that are still subjecting them inside and outside of institutions. In this context, we turn our attention to the insertion of women in the military field, which in the country initially took place in the 50s in the state of São Paulo, but only at the end of the 80s, there was their inclusion in the Military Police of the State of Sergipe. That being said, we aim to analyze, from the public policies that provided the insertion of women in the military field in Sergipe, the current conditions of existence of these women in this professional space and the factors related to female representation in the institution. For this Purpose, we carried out a mixed study that aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the implemented affirmative actions, in terms of institutional and social recognition: In study 1, we carried out a document analysis in order to investigate the existence institutional recognition of women in the labor context, and in study 2 (divided into two stages), we conducted an online survey, the application of a structured questionnaire to the Sergipe population about people's perception of Military Police, police activity and in terms of recognition of women's participation in this area, as well as an analysis of social comments in institutional publications on the official PMSE platform. The studies pointed to an initial attempt to assimilate women into the military context, however, over the years, aspects have been identified in relation to: body, language and space that make it unfeasible in terms of equal rights, as well as prevent an integration more effective role of women in this professional space, maintaining an essentialist view of gender, in addition to the old sexual division of labor, common to the various work contexts of male predominance. In the social context, we noticed strong signs of recognition of women in this professional space, both related to the responses to the survey and the analysis of social comments on the official PMSE website. In view of the above, we emphasize that the public policy that allowed the insertion of women in the military field remains in need of new investments and intervention proposals, aiming at greater effectiveness, mainly in institutional terms, especially considering the negative effects of gender categorization in the institution , whose confrontation in a strategic way can significantly impact the process of integration of women in this space, also aiming at institutional recognition, a condition not yet achieved by these women in the military profession. |
