Resumo: The Health Reform and the institutionalization of the Unified Health System (SUS) enabled a health model in the perspective of universality and the recognition of the complexity of the needs of social subjects. The social worker was requested in this process, with demands that involve a series of health determinants and conditions. In this sense, the intersectoral strategy is affirmed as an instrument to strengthen the right of users towards comprehensive care. This study presents the theme Social Service and Intersectoriality and aims to analyze how social workers use the strategy of intersectoriality in Family Health Units (FHU’s) in Aracaju / Se in their professional daily lives. It points out as specific objectives: to know the intersectoral actions that permeate the interventions of the social workers in the Family Health Units of Aracaju-SE to verify the implications resulting from the current situation for the materialization of intersectorality in professional performance and to identify the vision of/social workers on the main challenges and perspectives for the use of intersectorality within the scope of the FHU’s. It is exploratory and descriptive, bibliographic and documentary field research, with a qualitative and quantitative approach. For data collection, the semi-structured interview technique was used, with open and closed questions. The universe of research was composed of 38 (thirty-eight) social workers who work in the 45 (forty-five) FHU’s in Aracaju, with a sample composed of 20 (twenty) social workers. The interpretation of the data occurred from the content analysis based on the method of dialectical historical materialism. The results showed that although social workers gather a set of information and practices in the field of intersectoriality, actions in the FHUs occur in the absence of an orientation of flows, service offerings and strategies for the materialization of intersectoriality, which are related to current dismantling with the de-financing of social policies has had a direct impact on intersectoral actions, with selective policies and the strengthening of the privatist health project. Thus, intersectoral actions should be part of the reflections of professionals, as they are tools that reaffirm the category's commitment to the social rights of users and to the integrality of health care, which are aligned with the Project Ethical-Political Professional and the Health Reform project.
