Resumo: Eucalyptus is a species from Australia in which initial commercial plantings occurred in Chile (1823) and India (1856), and according to Abraf (2005), in Brazilian areas occurred around 1904. There are around 700 However, in order to comply with the industrial structure, commercial crops are limited to a dozen species (ABRAF, 2005). The state of Sergipe, despite having a small territorial extension, exhibits a considerable diversity of natural scenarios, being therefore the importance of studies on the exotic species introduced in the state, aiming at the forms of cultivation and management of them. For the sustainable development of forestry activities, especially in the municipality of Itaporanga D'ajuda / SE, the largest producer of eucalyptus, a multiple land use planning is necessary, which can guarantee a structure for the efficient and operative introduction of the enterprises, establishing themselves thus a fundamental mechanism for the regional planning of eucalyptus cultivation. However, the present research has as general objective to analyze the climatic aptitude of the areas with eucalyptus cultivation in Itaporanga D'ajuda / SE, as well as to verify the ways of managing it. In view of the above, the following questions arise: a) Which species are being grown in the municipality of Itaporanga D'ajuda / SE? b) What are the ideal climatic conditions for eucalyptus forestry? c) Does the municipality of Itaporanga D'ajuda / SE possess the climatic conditions necessary for the cultivation of eucalyptus? d) Does the municipality of Itaporanga D'ajuda have the climatic characteristics necessary for cultivation? In order to meet the objectives, we opted for quantitative-qualitative research with a descriptive and exploratory approach. The research was conducted through interviews and semi - structured questionnaires with the producers of Eucalyptus sp. resident in the municipality of Itaporanga D'ajuda. Successive and distinct stages were necessary for the methodological development. The first step was to survey the main species of the genus Eucalyptus cultivated in the municipality. Then, representative ranges of climatic requirements were delineated for each species of this genus, and thus, a table of climatic fitness classes according to the methodology of Zolnier (1994) was prepared. To evaluate the climatic conditions necessary for the cultivation of eucalyptus, precipitation and temperature maps of the study areas were used. For the preparation of the fitness map, we used vector and raster data processed in a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) program, ArcGIS® 10.3.1. In the third stage the spatial reclassification of the climatic characteristics of the study area was performed based on the climatic requirements of the species. For the preparation of the climatic zoning map, the data of the temperature and rainfall maps were used, as well as vector and raster files made available by SEMARH-SE. In the face of these questions, a database was obtained that provided useful information for both producers and researchers of eucalyptus in Sergipe and as a final product a classification of cultivated species and maps of climatic aptitude, pointing out possibilities of actions for their better conservation and sustainability.
