Resumo: Historically, civilizations developed from the proximity of water bodies and specifically rivers in order to facilitate the collection and consumption of water. However, the use and occupation of land in the vicinity of rivers started to trigger various socio-environmental problems. Therefore, this work aims to analyze the socio-environmental consequences associated with the process of use and occupation of the banks of the Rio Real in Tobias Barreto-SE, considering the riverbank system as a scenario of educational practices in the formal education system. Thus, this is based on the geosystemic analysis approach, integrating the territory and landscape, seeking to analyze the geographical space in an integrated way, considering the interrelationships between human beings and nature. Following the analysis approach, the methodological procedures are based on three stages: Cabinet, field and synthesis. The bibliographic study was carried out from books, theses, dissertations and articles, as well as data from IBGE, CPRM and ANA were analyzed, which contributed to a better understanding of the study site. The research has three questions that guide the entire discussion listed here, they are: What are the social and environmental causes and consequences triggered by the process of use and occupation of the banks of the Rio Real? What is the relevance of Environmental Sciences in understanding the social and environmental problems existing on the banks of the Rio Real? What teaching and learning practices can contribute to the development of environmental knowledge? What teaching and learning practices can contribute to the development of environmental knowledge? Like most Brazilian cities, Tobias Barreto also developed in the vicinity of the river, but the use and occupation of these areas together with the inefficiency of urban infrastructure, contributed to changes in the landscape. As observed in loco, in addition to housing constructions, which in themselves already trigger changes in fluvial dynamics, on the riverbanks there is the presence of domestic sewage pipes that are directed to the water body, in addition to the constant discharge of solid waste. As a result, the river water is exposed in a putrefying way, presenting a strong odor and a dark color affecting its quality and consequently its availability, making evident the need for insistent educational work. Understanding that the school presents itself as a space for socialization, providing possibilities for students through the teaching of Environmental Sciences to know better and reflect on the socio-environmental problems of the place where they live, sensitizing and transforming their attitudes and values, seeking to contribute with the teaching and learning process, the research carried out resulted in the construction of an E-book, entitled "Pedagogical Practices in Environmental Sciences: Interdisciplinarity in Action", seeks to contribute to the development of teaching and learning from pedagogical practices that integrate school content with the student's reality.
