Resumo: |
The challenge of teaching a second language assumes that there should be a motivating factor that pushes students to their learning and the pedagogical practice of English teachers of youth and adult education must be coupled with the awareness of the student real importance of this educational process. In this scenario, the process of training, and the search for excellence, constitutes a decisive factor in overcoming school failure. From this principle, the idea of linking the teaching of the English language, your communication skills and grammar part to a very relevant social and global issue arises: environmental awareness. The implementation of public actions to ensure a more sustainable development of society has generated much discussion in various social spheres, which makes us, as teachers, subject of this action. So we ask ourselves: to what extent the environment as a crosscutting theme, could be used as a context for teaching English? The aim is thus to establish a theoretical and practical discussion about the importance of the environment as a theme for teaching the English language; develop a pedagogical proposal for the implementation of procedures for teaching English correlating with news media on environmental issues for teaching youth and adults. Their day-to-day professional makes them acquire an empirical knowledge of their metier, but leaves that reach below potential with proper training. In this aspect, the students spread the awareness that individual actions sustainable living make a difference in the process of conserving the environment, in order to expand the interest in second language learning, from the development of classes with the inclusion of contextualized themes about environmental problems experienced in daily practice, as the starting point of teaching a second language. |
