Resumo: Investment in infrastructure works has a major impact on the economy and therefore on social development. However, the sector has low productivity and high costs, reflecting the precarious design and planning phases. As an alternative to such problems, it has used the managerial philosophy called Lean construction. This, however, has a low degree of acceptance in the sector, mainly due to lack of understanding about its concepts and gains. For this reason, through the shortage on the topic in the academy, the present work aims to detect the main difficulties for the application of Lean concepts in infrastructure works, as well as to alleviate them. To this end, an exploratory and descriptive study was developed. Lean experts and industry actors were interviewed through questionnaires and confirmed in the literature about the main obstacles to implement the theory. Also, based on the mapping the main obstacles, best practices have been proposed to alleviate the problems observed in the execution of the works covered by this study. It is concluded that it is still a challenge to apply Lean practices in civil construction works and even more in infrastructure works. This research is expected to help managers overcome barriers in the application and use of dried practices in infrastructure works.
