Resumo: |
The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of the supplement to Africanized bee colonies subject to the production of queen bees, on the morphometric characteristics of queens produced. The emergency measures of weight, length and width of wing and abdomen were evaluated. No significant differences in the characteristics were found. The results of this study suggest that the use of protein supplements for colonies submitted to the queens production process in the period from September to December (Spring) in the study area is unfeasible because of the great food available in nature this time, able to meet the requirements of the colonies for the production of queen bees, however, it is necessary to perform further studies related to the effect of supplementation on the characteristics of queen bees in different seasons. |
