Resumo: In the traditional fishing territories of Brejo Grande, food production and consumption are associated with the work done in the mangroves, rivers, restingas and cultivated areas. The objective of this dissertation is to understand how the food sovereignty of the traditional people of Brejo Grande / SE was affected by shrimp farming. We are based on qualitative research, with emphasis on the following instruments: literature review, field research consisting of semistructured interview scripts, observation, collection of informal reports, photographic record and survey and field diary. We have found that the food sovereignty of traditional peoples is linked to autonomy in accessing and carrying out productive practices such as the cultivation, fishing and extraction of native species of fish, crustaceans, mollusks, fruits, grains and vegetables. These activities provide the basis for eating as well as the socioeconomic reproduction of the subjects. In recent years, people have experienced the advance of captive shrimp farming, this activity appropriates the natural resources, imposes new socioenvironmental conditions that directly affect the maintenance of food sovereignty of the traditional fishing peoples of the municipality of Brejo Grande.
