Resumo: The present dissertation discuss the dismantling in the Mental Health Policy in Brazil from 2016 to 2020, with special attention to the publications of the Federal Council of Social Work and the academic production of the Postgraduate in the area in the Northeast Region. The study of this period is considered relevant because of the State counter-reforms that regressively affected the continuity of this policy in the governments of that period. Documentary and bibliographic research was used on the Council's website and on the Sucupira Platform, with seven publications of the entity and seven dissertations and two theses from the Postgraduate Programs being analyzed. The results obtained demonstrate that the CFESS stands as an entity that nourished the professional category with elements of analysis of the conjuncture that made it possible to stimulate the fight for the defense of the rights of people with mental disorders and the Mental Health Policy. In the case of the Postgraduate Program in Social Work, it was observed that the theme of Mental Health Policy in the northeast had a critical approach that reinforced the professional and academic commitment to unveiling the dismantling in the period in question. Thus, even with few productions, it is important to understand the meaning of dismantling in the Mental Health Policy in professional practice.
