Resumo: The Cauamé river is an important tributary of the right bank of the Branco river, and its hydrographic basin extends in the municipalities of Alto Alegre (51% of the total area) and Boa Vista (49% of the total area), both in the Roraima state, Brazil. Considering the socio-economic importance of this water body, since it is subjected to the environmental impacts caused by urban occupation, as well as the water demand in rural and leisure activities, it is extremely important to analyze the hydrological regime of this river to support guidelines that guide the management of water resources of this important tributary of the Branco River. This study established the water level / rating-curve at a monitoring point in the Cauamé River basin, and morphometrically characterized this basin, using remote sensing techniques, as a basis for support in the management of water resources. The morphometric characteristics of the Cauamé River Basin (CRB) indicate a drainage net of about 115 km, but with a very low average slope (0.00276 m / m) and a relatively high concentration time of 55.5 hours. The morphometry explains, in part, the formation of hydraulic backwaters in the Cauamé River during periods of intense rain and in areas close to the mouth. According to the water level / rating-curve, it was observed that the control section showed flows satisfactorily close to the expected in 85% of the registered levels, this percentage being sufficient to support the calculation of reference flows that allow the adequate management of the hydrographic basin.
