Its recognised that innovation is important for the development of nations and the competitiveness of the productive sector of the countries, it is verified that there is much knowledge stored in academic and research institutions that are not inserted in the market, leaving to generate wealth for the country. It is also verified that one of the greatest challenges of Brazilian scientific, technological and innovation institutions is the transfer of knowledge generated to the productive sector. Thus, the objective of this research was to present a case study of technology transfer generated in a Brazilian ICT for a company participating in the Incubation Program of this same institution. The flow of the technology transfer process adopted by the Institute was analyzed, as well as the verification of the challenges and recommendations for improvements in order to obtain a higher rate of licensing at the institution. This is a qualitative research of descriptive character, given the need to know with a greater depth of depth the phenomenon studied. A bibliographical review was carried out related to the research topic, information was collected through semi-structured interviews with the ICT, as well as in documents and records in archives. It was possible to verify that the institution has a process of technology transfer formalized and standardized based on practices adopted by other institutions references in Brazil although there are many obstacles in relation to the conversion of patents into licensing for companies. Due to the obstacles pointed out in this paper, recommendations were presented to increase the efficiency of the technology transfer process in the institute.
