This research aims to analyze the perception of the landscape and socioenvironmental problems of the inhabitants of the informal urban settlement "Nova Vida", located in the western zone of Boa Vista. The theoretical approach was based not only on the bias of urban geography, but also on the valuation of the concepts that give identity to the cultural landscape. The research methodology began with a literature review and documentary on the concept of landscape and its application in the urban setting of Boa Vista. Then they work in the fields for the observation, description, georeferencing, and the application of questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed and organized through tables and graphs about the environmental perception of the residents. The making of the maps has occurred through programs of gis images of the collection of the Laboratory of Metrics of the Landscape of the UFRR, and Google Earth on the interface of the Quantum Gis 2.8.2. The results and conclusions show how the dynamics of the landscape modified by human actions in the core studied, the interactions between elements of natural and cultural areas of environmental risk in Boa Vista, which are the more serious consequences for the model of urban growth and undisciplined to the city and as the population entered in the process identifies himself as a citizen within the reality investigated. In addition, the main uses of the soil in the settlement were investigated, mainly in the areas near the water body, that exist in this environment, to evaluate the environmental degradations associated to incorrect behaviors with the natural elements of this system.
