Resumo: | The Multicampi School of Medical Sciences was created through the Mais Médicos Program, in order to reorient medical distribution and training throughout the country. As an extension of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, the Multicampi school advanced with the policy of interiorization, bringing training opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students in the health area in regions far from large capitals. Initially the undergraduate course in medicine was created and then the postgraduate modalities were created, such as the Multiprofessional Residence in Primary Care. The present study seeks to discuss the implications of the Multiprofessional Residency in Health of the Multicampi School of Medical Sciences for the strengthening of Primary Health Care in Caicó-RN. This is a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study using the interview technique, with the participation of 18 professionals who work as preceptors, 10 of whom are college-level (doctors, nurses and dentists) and 8 of middle-level (nursing technicians). The data obtained through the interviews were analyzed based on the content analysis technique. To carry out the research analysis technique, the pre-analysis phases, the exploration of the material and the treatment of the results followed. In this way, three thematic categories were built, namely: Changes in the dynamics of health work with the insertion of the residence; Challenges to enhance the performance of residents; Expectations related to the performance of residents. In general, the Multiprofessional Residency in Health proved to be a potent transformer of realities, instigating teams to produce health and knowledge in an innovative way. However, in this process there are still weaknesses pointed out that need to be remedied to ensure a better use of these professionals, in addition to being able to serve as a basis to measure their impact on the community. |
