Resumo: | Digital technologies by civil society for political decision-making can contribute by creation of spaces for democratic experimentation that allow complementarity between representative and participatory democracy. For that reason, present work seeks reach out an exploratory case of study that describe the “Gabinete Digital” experience, highlighting possible causes related to the factors that contribute to the implementation of the project and the probable causes that led to the end. “Gabinete Digital was an initiative of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, which sought to expand democracy through a digital participation channel. The project began in 2011, during the government of Tarso Genro and had its finished in 2014 by the successor government. Since then, the project is still considered one of the largest and the most important experiences of digital participation in Brazil and around the world. The creation of new technological solutions is a way to overcome democratical barriers, being an important Brazilian ally, by improving democracy and expanding the range of possibilities to exercise citizenship. |
